Little Days Out

We love to get out on the weekends and have little days out around the Mornington Peninsula and wider Victoria. This is a place where we will share our adventures and hopefully inspire you to get out and about on your own little days out!

Sand Sculpting Australia presents Peter Pan

I was very lucky to have been invited to the launch event for Sand Sculpting Australia, which this year relocated from the Frankston foreshore to Boneo Maze on the Mornington Peninsula.

I didn't realise her feet were off the ground until I posted it here!

The theme this year is Peter Pan.

This is the first year we have visited the Sand Sculpting exhibition and I have to say the sculptures are absolutely amazing. The detail in them honestly took my breath away.

Tinkerbell is hiding in each of the twelve sculptures and Milla loved the challenge of trying to find her before moving on to the next one.

Where is Tink?

Part of the exhibition includes an activity zone where kids can get in on the action and create their own sand sculptures. They can also make sand art pictures and get their faces painted.

One of the best things about the new location is that most of the other activities at Bono Maze are included in the ticket price. 27 acres of wetland and gardens to explore with giant games, mazes and a jumping castle. For an additional charge there are other activities including mini golf, a carousel and paddle boats.

There are plenty of lovely spots to set up with a picnic lunch including tables and chairs plus a cafe if you're after hot food or a cheeky wine. I feel like you could get several hours of entertainment out of the whole experience which makes it pretty good value for money in my eyes.

Sand Sculpting Australia Ticket Prices:

  • Adults- $15
  • Seniors- $12
  • Child 3-17- $10
  • Children under 3 - Free

Sand Sculpting Australia Location:

695 Limestone Rd, Fingal Victoria

Lights By Dreamworks Giveaway

Being a resident of the Mornington Peninsula, I had been eyeing off the Lights by Dreamworks- The Experience posters around town with interest. I'm always on the look out for fun things Milla might love locally so it was exciting to see such an awesome exhibition coming to my neighbouring town of Rosebud.

Naturally I was thrilled to then receive an invitation to attend, as well as the opportunity to give away two family passes to my readers!

Haven't heard of Lights by Dreamworks- The Experience? Neither had I. That is because this is an Australian first exhibition of some of DreamWorks Animation’s best known characters in a large-scale lantern experience.

Modelled on the traditional Chinese Lantern Festival, it is an interactive walk through experience featuring more than one hundred of your favourite characters from Dreamworks movies including Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, How to Train Your Dragon and Madagascar.

As well as the exhibition, visitors will be able to experience themed technology and learning zones and an immersive cinema experience. There will also be a variety of scenographic pieces, LED furnishings and an animatronic dragon.

Lights by Dreamworks- The Experience runs for 30 days, opening on the 25th of March and running until the 30th April at The Village Green in Rosebud.

Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster or the Booking Office on 1300 307 740.

For more information you can visit the Lights by Dreamworks- The Experience website at

Kings Falls Circuit Walk

Kings Falls Circuit Walk

Waterfall Gully Road, Arthurs Seat.

This is an awesome walk if you are short on time and just want to get out in nature for a bit and get some fresh air. Great for ducking out for an hour or so in the afternoon to refresh on the weekend (what we did today) and also a lovely introductory walk for little people with little legs.

The Big Freeze Festival

Milla and I were thrilled to be invited to The Big Freeze Festival opening celebration today. The Big Freeze Festival is an indoor family winter festival that launched this school holidays in Melbourne. A picture speaks a thousand words and as you can see Milla had an absolute ball.

Autumn on the Peninsula.

I am so sad to see the end of Summer and beach days, but I must admit, Autumn on the Peninsula is just gorgeous. These photos were taken at Seawards Gardens at Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula.

Baker IDI Cruden Farm Open Garden and Family Day

On Sunday, my family and I were invited to Cruden Farm Open Garden and Family Day. The day was a fundraiser for Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute, a cause very close to my heart, as I was diagnosed with Insulin Dependant Diabetes when I was nine years old.
